Much nicer than the lame pic I had for today!
- I thought that the Modern Warfare PC Dedicated Server Petition was slowing down, but, as this update is prepped, the sigs have exceeded 165,000!
- News 4 Gamers has an article on IW's secretive development of Modern Warfare 2, keeping even owner Activision largely in the dark. Hmmm. Since they with-hold info from fans, why not from the owners?
- MW 2 Spoiler Warning! Yesterday's link about a controversial MW2 single player gameplay video may not be a hoax after all. The Escapist had an article with a YouTube link that has now been taken down "due to a copyright claim by Activision". Likewise, the original video on the Asian website 56.com has now been yanked. I can't read the Asian script, but linking to the video link brings an obvious "Your video isn't here 404 crying face". (Update: Here's a LiveLeak link while it lasts.)
- Worthplaying invites you to do some CoD4 multi-player with Slipnot on Xbox Live, 29 October 2009.
- BASHandSlash has news that the German Star Wars-style CoD4 PC mod, Galactic Warfare, is now back in production. Here's a YouTube link of some Galactic Warfare team deathmatch.
- Destructoid has news of a temporary price slash for World at War map packs. Some news from Treyarch community rep JD_2020 associated with this: Finally, we’ve turned on Double-XP for all platforms which will also end Monday, November 1st. So hit that prestige button one more time while the XP is cheap!
- While DICE is embracing dedicated servers, some developers, like the Aliens vs. Predators devs, are being pretty cagey about the matter.

- Older GameSpy article on the Worst Ideas for the Future of Gaming.
- Voodoo Extreme has a trailer of the Killing Floor (a co-op survival FPS) expansion pack. Not a fan of supernatural games, but this video looks pretty spiffy.
- Tho Brütal Legend barely has the shrink wrap off, Shacknews reports that DLC is on the way.
- Crispy Gamer has an editorial on the ethics of Brütal Legend.
- And, while we're at it, here's a full review of Brütal Legend.
- Microsoft has responded the upcoming availability of Netflix instant streaming on the Playstation 3. Not to editorialize, but Microsoft should get its head out of its ass and release a Blu-Ray drive for the Xbox 360. I already stream movies from the Xbox 360, and I want the extra functionality of a HD drive. After all, I bought the HD-DVD drive for the frackin' thing.
- The launch of Sky on Xbox Live ran into some problems. Major Nelson tweeted that Xbox Live was on the case: UK Xbox LIVE Members: If you are having trouble w/ the SKy Player, we are aware of the issues and are investigating. Microsoft wound up pulling the Sky player for Xbox Live UK, so I guess major bugstomping is in progress.
- A visit to the set of Stargate Universe on UGO.
- Best titled article of the week: In Addition to Making You Look Like a Douche, Cellphone Holsters May Also Reduce Bone Density.
- In the Halloween spirit, here's a treat for Nathan Fillion fans: He dresses up as a "Space Cowboy" on his sitcom. If you haven't seen the Firefly series, you should. It rocks. And see it before you see the movie Serenity.
