Morning Vent, 9 May 2010 (Mothers Day)

Just what I wanted!! Now, stand still!

Today, we celebrate Moms. So, make sure that you remember your Mom today; say a prayer, make breakfast, give flowers, but make time for her today. Don't be like this douchebag! Treat Mom right. Unfortunately, our own Mothers Day plans at the HQ are in doubt. Reibo is feeling very poorly this AM. Mom's also under the weather, so we're gonna haveta take it slow today and see what happens.
After the power went out on us the second time, Matt64, Reibo and I gave up on gaming and switched to watching movies. It was windy last night, but it wasn't a huge Nor'easter storm or anything like that. In any case, a gentle breeze is enough to knock the power out for a few seconds, just enough to dump all our Xbox 360s. Ironically, the power didn't go off again all evening, but, as I told my bro Matt64, if we had been gaming, there would have been power dips galore. Central Hudson, it appears, was busy last night. In between power dips, I had their outage map up; a few miles away in Hopewell Junction, there were 1000+ homes without power. Clustered around our neighborhood were around 500 more. I tried to find an email or web contact for telling Central Hudson they suck, but they only have links for actual outage reports. I'll mail them a letter this week, I think, asking why the power goes out on my street every time a squirrel farts.
