Ghost stands guard, shoots glitchers...
The PS3 patch apparently went active last night. A pipe glitch in Rust apparently results in instant death if you use it. Some Aussie users are reporting problems with match-making, still. Bursts of lag, some partying-up and joining problems have been reported on the PS3 forum. Still no word on the Xbox Live version. On to the links:
- Big Download: CoD4 PC versus MW2 PC. CoD4 wins. Destructoid has one report of the MW2 PC version causing some confusion for ISPs interpreting the cross traffic as peer-to-peer file-sharing.
- Op-Ed from The Telegraph on Modern Warfare 2 and controversy.
- GamesRadar: A video history of Call of Duty.
- CoD: Modern Warfare DS mobile version reviewed at GamesRevolution.
- The Japanese version of Modern Warfare 2 will have the "No Russian" level censored. Shooting will result in a "Game over" message to the player.
- MTV: Red Dawn movie reboot described by producers as "live action Call of Duty." Hah. Meanwhile, Homefront is plowing that same furrow on the game front.
- YouTube humor: MW2 ninja kill. Javelin lock epic fail.
- The Banninations continue on Xbox Live. Some players are apparently trying to perform some kind of Xbox Live suicide.
- Lest anyone think that Xbox Live is the only network affected, we have this on PSN: Leaderboard hacking where the offender can prestige in about 30 seconds.
- Oldie but a goodie: Great Xbox Live Timmy message from '06, apparently upset that he got cannonized by someone's tank. Another one from CoD4. And a classic CoD4 team-killing douchebag, Teamkiller0703. He was banned from CoD4, but apparently he's still teamkilling in CoD4, W@W, and possibly MW2, since Infinity Ward did nothing to fix the teamkilling problem in the game.
- Rogue Warrior reviews: Sinking fast on metacritic scores. Latest is 2 stars from GiantBomb. Terminal Gamer gives it a 3 out of 10. Gamers Daily News says rental only. GamePro goes all out with a 1.5 star review.
- Bungie fesses up about ODST marketing gaffes. G4TV has a video of the interview.
- Lance Henriksen, who recently voiced General Shepherd in Modern Warfare 2, is kinda reprising his role as Bishop in the Aliens vs. Predator game, playing a descendant of the human Bishop character. Rebellion Studios has recently refused to bowdlerize the Aliens vs. Predator game for sanitized release in Australia and Germany.
- Gaming's most important crates. And, for nostalgia, here's a great crate-centric feature from zombie site Old Man Murray.
