Morning Vent, 18 February 2010

Those were the days...

No gaming last night. I got as far as loading up Modern Warfare 2 while Reibo was on a meal break, but he never went back to play. After a while, I started feeling tired and switched over to stream some Netflix. Reibo had added the Dark Shadows 1991 reboot to the queue, so I watched that. The retread of the classic 1960s Gothic soap opera Dark Shadows was surprisingly good. Ben Cross, lately known for his protrayal of Spock's father, Sarek, in the Star trek reboot made a formidable Barnabas Collins. He was no Jonathan Frid, to be sure, but he gave an intense performance that was unfortunately a wasted effort, as the series was killed off by incessant pre-empting and rescheduling during the Gulf War. There's a cinematic reboot in the works now, currently under the control of Tim Burton and Johnny Depp, who loved the original Dark Shadows series and always wanted to be Barnabas Collins. Me, too, but mostly so I could nibble on the necks of the hot babes of Collinwood. Lara Parker as Angelique and Kathryn Leigh Scott as Maggie were teh hot! :D
